What is insured and who can be the policyholder?

What is insured? The object of insurance is the civil liability of the policyholder – the dog owner – for harm that may be caused to third parties. This complies with the requirements of the Procedure and Rules for Mandatory Insurance, approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated July 9, 2002, No. 944.
Who can be the Policyholder? Legally capable citizens and legal entities who are legal owners of dogs. Please note that units of the Armed Forces and other military formations, internal affairs bodies, prosecutor's offices, courts, and other state bodies that keep dogs for official duties cannot act as policyholders under this contract.
The subject of the insurance contract is property interests that do not contradict legislation, related to the policyholder's compensation for harm caused to the life, health, and/or property of third parties due to the aggressive and/or unpredictable actions of the dog.

Insured risks and events

Insurance sum and contract cost

The insurance sum and payout amounts are established by law:

In case of compensation to the heirs of a person who died as a result of an insured event – 11,000 UAH.
In case of Group I, II, or III disability assigned to an injured individual – 8,250 UAH, 5,500 UAH, or 2,750 UAH, respectively.
For each day of incapacity of an injured individual or health disorder in a child – 20 UAH, but not more than 2,500 UAH.
In case of damage (destruction) of a third party's property – in the amount of its book value, but not more than 30,000 UAH.

The cost of insurance (insurance tariff) is set at:

One non-taxable minimum income of citizens for a period of one year for individuals (as of November 15, 2021: 17 UAH).
Two non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens for a period of one year for legal entities (as of November 15, 2021: 34 UAH).

Please note that the non-taxable minimum income of citizens as of January 1, 2024, is 17 UAH.
